Because of my weight gain or just aging, I felt not well recently.  But finally we pushed ourselves to go and try the Davis Bike Loop again, which we failed to follow all the way last year.

This time I tried to ride the loop the other way around, and that was successful!!

We were so happy to see the clear green mark line on the ground to show which way to go for the Davis Bike Loop, so we never got lost.  Thank God.  And I really appreciated the great work and effort in Davis.

We just loved this loop.

We both felt energized very much and forgot that we rode more than usual.

Now we are really tired tonight.

We were going to have lunch in downtown, but when we saw W.. Foods Market, we changed our minds.  We felt pooped a little.
Really enjoyed the smoothy, and pieces of pizza.

Tried to ride on Davis Bike Loop

In spite of sluggish wake up in the morning, beautiful weather was calling us to go on a trip for riding.  We loaded our bikes and hit the road again. That was the second time visiting UC Davis yesterday.  This time we wanted to see some streets outside of the UC campus, so we tried to ride following the map of Davis Bike Loop.

We dropped by the Welcome center, then took Hutchison Dr. of the loop up to Sprocket, but we lost the way going under La Rue Rd, actually we didn't realize we should look for the place, anyway we crossed the road by walking and somehow found Orchard Rd and reached the exciting bike bridge above Hwy 113 and rode across.  That was awesome!  Smoothly we found the bike path along Russell Blvd to the West.
From there we didn't see so many cyclists any more and really relaxed.
Seeing agricultural land and horses having happy time on the left we were enjoying the paved, wide bike path continuing a long way which I've never seen before.  In addition speedy cars are just driving on a separate road over the tree line.  What a happy environment!

That long path was behind us.

Later I thought that I should have noticed at this moment, we might have ridden too much on Russell.  But we didn't notice.  Just rode and rode happily along Russell all the way to the end of Bike Path. agrrr....

Oh, that is the end of the path!

Since we rode quite a bit more than last time, I was just happy so took the same way back to UC.

When he lost the way and got out of the campus, I saw Whole Foods.  Yes! Get some drinks and sweets.  Ginger Soother and Cheese Danish.

When we got back to the parking lot.  My cyclometer showed it.

Yeah, 15.76 miles!  I was satisfied very much.  When we got back home, we were really, really tired.

Now next day we both woke up with stiffness all over our body everywhere.  But we both had fun yesterday very much.
I worked in our garden and he helped me too.

I hope we can ride tomorrow.

I want to try it too!

I have continued working on our garden trail yesterday.  Mr. WhP is always test cyclist, and I'm watching carefully to find better line to make.  Finally I made better, because he said so yesterday.  But it's too late and I was very exhausted from using a heavy mattock.
So I was excited to try our garden trail this morning!
First I decided to try riding on the gravel path again not putting weight too much on the handle.  But I forgot not to look at the direction which I shouldn't go.
I have stomped on my favorite flower.  "Sorry, flowers!"
Riding on gravel is so hard for me, because I loose balance so easily.  I know I need faster speed but my left foot didn't come up to pedal quickly.

OK, on dirt will be much easier.  I could go through compost box and tall kale, but the next curve was up slope and my left foot got chickened to pedal faster and I lost my balance. agrrrr...
How about letting my left foot start instead of right foot pushing down to start, so I can put my right foot on the pedal much quicker.  ummmm....  I was thinking very hard.

It worked!  But left foot starting is so awkward;  I need practice more.

OK.  Bumpy surface ride was finished today.  Let's go road bike!

At beginning I decided to use 2 for back gear and pedal faster.  I was so scared to use small number before because my balance was worse and I couldn't pedal so fast.  Now I thought I might be able to pedal faster than before.  And I did.
It turned out that was an excellent start.  I didn't get tired so much as usual.  We rode 18 miles!!!

Average Speed, Max Speed, Distance, and Time.

When I rode 7.5 miles, we had to drink water and we needed restroom so we went back home for that, and also we ate something quickly.  I ate half banana and almond milk, and he ate small piece of almond chocolate and half a banana,  and we both drank water again to restart.

It was fun ride.  I noticed some parts of body got stiff.  So we did TV stretch for just 15 min.

Gravel road, uneven surface...

I wondered if it's possible for me to ride in the future?  So far I only have ridden basically flat paved road, because I had no confidence any other way.

Suddenly I noticed that we have a path with gravels in our backyard garden.  So I tried riding my bicycle there.  Oh, my God! There was no way I can do it at beginning, then a little bit, and hopeless....

Then I moved some big tiles in the garden to make some uneven brown grassy area for riding.  Gosh, it was too hard.  It's narrow not like trails or roads, so my attention scattered all over the place, and I just couldn't ride long enough, then I got exhausted.

Well, I didn't want to try my first mountain bike try out in public place.  So I thought that I could practice this way a little bit.

Well, I fell sideways once today, but wasn't injured at all.  Maybe I will try another time. It 's nice to have a garden we made by ourselves,  not so much loss even if I damage it.  But my balance sense is quite hopeless.

We rode familiar roads late in the afternoon with heavy wind to try another 15 miles.  I did but I got toes cramping again.  And my left toes are still numbish. I need to find some exercise for my feet.

Cooler weather, let's ride!

Our spirits were ready to go, but our energy levels were not perfect.  Anyway we tried.

Now I can ride with a higher saddle height, but it brought my left knee pain.  So I put it down a little bit.  Yes, much more comfortable.  Because my left leg is shorter than my right one.  And my left leg is weaker than my right one too.  So far 2.5'' is the best for me.

The last 15 min of today's 1 hour 45 min ride, my left toes got cramped again, but I kept pedaling lightly and slowly, so it went away finally.  Whew!

My butt pain came back.  Definitely  I need to rest tomorrow.

Today's record: Time, Average Speed, Max Speed, and Distance.

Not pushing, but continuing, is the key?

Hot weather really made my body weird. From morning?!  I was tired, but I felt I wanted to ride even a little.
It turned out 10 min. warm up was not enough. Next 10 min. work out was hard and brought pain.  I gave up to keep speed around 8 mph.  Changing gear, and not push any more.  About 50 min. after I started riding, and just after stop and start action, my left toes got cramped.  Hurts!

I was going to ride very lightly and finish within 10 min.   But after that, I felt much better and pain was forgotten.  So I continued until over 1 hour 45 min.
Average speed: 8.5 mph, Max speed: 18.9 mph, and Distance: 15.3 miles!

Crossed over the 15 mile hurdle!

Today's workout:
Easy riding around 9 mph for 1 mile, fast pedaling around 10-12mph for another 1mile, then I was out of breath so had to calm down so rode easy for a half mile, next 1 mile up slope as fast as possible, then fast but easy pedaling on 1mile down slope alternatively 4 times, half mile for easy between, and another 2miles pedaling as fast as I could, then 1 mile for cooling off.  We had a 5 minute chat with our neighbor.

Distance:  15.2 miles, Average Speed:  9.9 mph, Max Speed:  29.4 mph?!!, Time:  1h30min.

I stopped at around 4.5 miles to drink some water, that was energy boosting the same as on last Friday.
