Since we're not working to improve speed or distance, we could ride just short distances at comfortable speed to get just right exercise.
We did ride 7 days in a row, and we both got strange fatigue all of a sudden on the night of the 7th day. I got worse than him, with headache, dizziness, and a little fever which continued all day yesterday.
Is that from aging? Or just a simply stupid riding plan without resting between no matter slow we rode?
I searched on the Internet. Unfortunately there were not many articles for ordinary, old cyclists.
But some article said, older age cyclists have reduced capacity but only a little (about 1.8% per decade). Older cyclists still do well at endurance riding, but they take longer to recover after riding.
And I read somebody said we older people can't depend on bicycling only for healthy exercise, because we need to shake our bones by touching the ground with running or walking to avoid losing bone density.
So I'm going to make our weekly schedule which is a combination of bicycling, walking, and resting. I thought 2 days a week for complete resting should be right. I need to check the weather information too.
I hope it will help us in the future.

Tired, tired, and tired...
Because of lack of sleeping, less protein comsumption? Or just from aging?
My weight didn't reduce, comfortable feeling afterwards from riding disappeared from my body. I got in the really bad cycle in two weeks.
At late night and early morning tremendous noise of big trucks are just terrible. I just can't get enough sleep.
I hate trucks, noisy cars, speeding cars and noisy motorcycles.
Hmph..

That was not from bicycling, that fatigue came from gardening. Digging made us sickish which we've never gotten before.
Anyway we were going to try one of cycling clubs' monthly events this morning, but we just couldn't go. What a shame! It was good that I didn't tell the leader.
But I was still worried if we can keep up with the group or not. Our speed is not fast enough. And we've never yet tried group riding.
Maybe this is God's voice. No, you are not ready yet. Something like that.
At least we should get rid of this pain in our arms, small back and knees first. We both didn't feel up to riding even in our neighborhood.
We had breakfast with the dish. I want to ride!

Grrrr.. I need multiple bodies!
Hot weather in Summer and Fall made us hopeless to take care for our garden. So we rode a lot without worrying about gardening and other household chores.
Now the temperature is right for anything. Cleaning and painting cabinets. Trimming trees and replacing soil in the garden.
Physical and mental strength of ours got quite slim, so maybe because of that we just can't ride long distance, sometimes even short distance either. We often forget stretching exercise. I can feel my body is getting stiff.
In addition we only have less than two months to end this year, and that makes me nervous about not accomplishing anything.
Well, I should tell myself when I can do, I will do.
Chore is always not fun, but we need to do. Bicycling is always fun but we can't always do.
Grrrrrrrr......
A chilly morning a morning glory was blooming so beautifully without care in our garden. Wish all were like that. Nooo...

Wish I could have two bodies...
It's fall in spite of hot weather like summer. We had to clean our garden. After cleaning and trimming, we had no way to ride bicycles. Knees hurt, toes and small back too.
I have a music session tomorrow. So maybe after that, we might take a short ride, I guess so. Recently I feel my body's limitation. Easy to get tired, hard to get sleep. I can't watch TV at night so much because my brain can't switch quickly to my sleeping mode. Everything has to be planned before, that is sometimes annoying ..... But I should be glad that I still can do something sometime, I know....
Well, maybe tomorrow....

Remade a soft-sided ice chest to ..
This is my "Rear Seat Trunk bag!
Took off the strap and cut them to size. Sew them on to one side of bag. Sew on hard Velcro to the end of the 2 straps and sew soft Velcro to the other side of the bag to be easy to take on and off.
Unfortunately my left eye bleeding this morning by fatigue, so I was going to rest completely today. But I need to test the bag on a ride to see if my own design trunk bag works or not.
Just rode for 45 minutes, 6 miles.
My remake Rear Seat Trunk Bag worked very well!

Because of my age? I was not quite recovered.
I was not quite recovered from yesterday. I didn't have enough energy today, when I started riding, I felt so. Then my right calf almost started cramping. I changed right hand gear smaller to ease pedaling.
Yesterday I lifted up my saddle to 3.5" from 2.5" Now I have to tilt the bicycle to reach to the ground. I couldn't stop smoothly yesterday, but I finally got a beautiful and safe stop.
Tomorrow I need to try beautiful start without sitting at the beginning. I hope I will finish my training completely about stop and restart tomorrow.
Distance, Average speed, Max speed, and Time.

Cooler weather, let's ride!
Our spirits were ready to go, but our energy levels were not perfect. Anyway we tried.
Now I can ride with a higher saddle height, but it brought my left knee pain. So I put it down a little bit. Yes, much more comfortable. Because my left leg is shorter than my right one. And my left leg is weaker than my right one too. So far 2.5'' is the best for me.
The last 15 min of today's 1 hour 45 min ride, my left toes got cramped again, but I kept pedaling lightly and slowly, so it went away finally. Whew!
My butt pain came back. Definitely I need to rest tomorrow.
Today's record: Time, Average Speed, Max Speed, and Distance.

Not pushing, but continuing, is the key?
Hot weather really made my body weird. From morning?! I was tired, but I felt I wanted to ride even a little.
It turned out 10 min. warm up was not enough. Next 10 min. work out was hard and brought pain. I gave up to keep speed around 8 mph. Changing gear, and not push any more. About 50 min. after I started riding, and just after stop and start action, my left toes got cramped. Hurts!
I was going to ride very lightly and finish within 10 min. But after that, I felt much better and pain was forgotten. So I continued until over 1 hour 45 min.
Average speed: 8.5 mph, Max speed: 18.9 mph, and Distance: 15.3 miles!

Didn't feel to bike so long, so just tried..
As usual we both are still sluggish, but we rode in the afternoon. We decided to ride around 5 miles and tried to keep 10 mph as much as possible. And we forgot that we should start to warm up slowly and then increase to that speed.
Anyway we felt better afterwards, that's good at least.
Distance: 6.2miles, Average Speed: 9.9mph, Time: 37min
I think that I did a very undisciplined ride today. Thinking about discipline, I never thought about the division of speed pace lately.
Next time I should decide how to ride through more than 10 miles.

Even myself sometimes cannot guess about my body.
Yesterday morning I was in pain everywhere on the bed when I woke up. Luckily Mr. WhP was the same condition, it's strange to say but if only me who was whining would have been really depressing. He rode the folding bike to challenge and unexpectedly he had a hard time to pedal through.
Anyway yesterday I was hot and tired, so I did gardening a little bit, we moved our table and chair a little bit, and rested. I changed the route to bike too.
I was quite shocked to see our bodies can't take 10 miles every day continuously so far. After each 10 mile ride we always need some rest the next day. That's not fun. But I should be patient to wait, I guess.
We took a bike trip and when I saw the speedometer showing over 10 miles, I stopped riding. And I thought that I should ride more, I could do just a little more, but I didn't just in case. Sure enough pain came onto us a couple of 10 minutes later.
We got back home, fed ourselves. Now he is sleeping silently on the couch, I'm typing this with heavy eye lids. This time we both got really painful finger pain for a while. Because of the bumpy road vibration and gripping the handle so tightly.
In old age you have to deal with whatever you see.
